Hello, my name is Abigail Parnell. I grew up in Oilton, Oklahoma with my amazing parents, Martha and Rusty Parnell, and my six siblings Michala, Jason, Christina, Hannah, Lydia, and Jennifer. I graduated from Oilton High School in 2012 and am currently enrolled at Tulsa Community College.
Going through high school I never really knew what it was that I wanted to do. I had so many teachers that made a huge influence in my life and eventually lead me to realize that that is what I wanted to do. My passion is knowledge and I love learning about anything and everything that has to do with us as humans and what makes us who we are. I plan on obtaining my Master’s Degree in Humanities Education and teaching high school and college Humanities. I'd love to show kids how much more there is to what makes us us than just what we've read in our history books.
When I heard that a position was opening up as the administrative assistant to the director of the AmeriCorps Lead to Read program I was immediately intrigued. AmeriCorps is a program that influences thousands of lives every year and I am thrilled to become a part of it.
